Buildings painted before 1970 may have lead paint under newer coats. It is safe while it stays sealed. It becomes a hazard when it is sanded, scraped or burnt off without control, because the dust spreads through the building.
WorkSafe Queensland lists safer methods, including wet scraping, wet hand sanding and power sanders with HEPA dust extraction. Our team is trained in safe lead paint removal and follows these methods.
