Our Services
What types of painting do you do?
Interior and exterior painting for homes, Queenslanders, apartments and units, plus commercial and body corporate work. We also do plastering, wallpaper removal and colour advice.
Do you do touch-ups on existing paint jobs?
Yes. We touch up worn and scuffed areas and make good minor damage.
Do you work on older and heritage homes?
Yes. We paint older homes and heritage buildings, including Queenslanders and the heritage Teneriffe woolstore.
Can you paint over wallpaper?
No. The wallpaper needs to come off and the wall needs to be prepared before painting. We do both.
Do you handle lead paint removal?
Yes. Our team is trained in safe lead paint removal and follows WorkSafe Queensland methods. Homes built before 1970 often have lead paint under newer coats, so we check for it at the site visit.
Quotes and Cost
How much does a painting job cost?
No two jobs are the same, so we do not price without seeing the job. The cost depends on the size of the job, the condition of the surfaces, access and the finish you want. Dan visits and gives you a fixed-scope written quote. The quote is free.
What does a fixed-scope quote mean?
Your written quote lists exactly what we will paint and how, so you know what is included before you agree to anything.
Is colour advice included?
Yes. Colour advice is included in every quote.
How much deposit will I pay?
Queensland rules cap deposits at 10% for residential jobs between $3,301 and $19,999, and 5% for jobs of $20,000 or more. QBCC deposit rules.
Paint and Preparation
What paint brands do you use?
Premium paints only, from Dulux, Taubmans and Wattyl.
Do you do the preparation, such as sanding and filling cracks?
Yes. Every surface is cleaned, sanded, filled, gapped and primed before painting. Prep is what makes paint last.
Do you use low-VOC paints?
Yes. We use low-VOC paints for interiors.
How do you protect floors and furniture?
Floors and furniture are covered before work starts, and the site is cleaned up at the end of every day.
Timing
How long does a painting job take?
It depends on the size of the job and how much prep it needs. Dan assesses each job and the timing is agreed with you before work begins.
Can you work around our schedule or after hours?
Tell Dan when you book the site visit. Timing is agreed with you before the job starts.
Licences, Warranty and Safety
Are your painters licensed and insured?
Yes. DC Decorators holds QBCC licence 15331027 and is insured. We are Master Painters Australia members and a Dulux Accredited Painter.
What warranty do I get?
Every job comes with a 5-year painter's workmanship warranty and our satisfaction guarantee.
What safety measures do you have on site?
Safe Work Method Statements and safety procedures are in place before any job starts, and they are followed throughout the job.
